About Bindi’s Big Adventure

Written for children aged 4-8, Bindi’s Big Adventure is about a brave little Chicken from Wauchope, Australia. Bindi hitches a ride to India with Helen Eager, an Order of Australia recipient in real life who has dedicated her life to helping poor children in India, Nepal and Bangladesh. In the story, Bindi meets blind boys and girls in a special school and learns that you should never listen to proud young roosters who think they know everything!

Why I Wrote It

I wrote Bindi’s Big Adventure after visiting India with Helen and seeing her love for blind children. On a Qantas flight back to Sydney I promised her that I’d write the story and started it right there on the plane!

Who Likes It?

Parents and teachers tell me often that they love the positive message and wonderful art! Bindi’s Big Adventure is beautifully illustrated by Sophie Risuleo, a talented painter. When I visit schools and read the story to children in grade one and two they love it!

“Bindi’s Big Adventure is a lovely story and beautifully illustrated. I use it in my Year 2 class to help children understand the importance of prayer and kindness.” Fiona, Year 2 Teacher Avondale Schools
